Senator Joe Robach has a long history of supporting school programs that help our kids prepare for jobs and/or post-secondary education.  One of the most successful jobs programs that Joe Robach helped to start is the City of Rochester’s Summer of Opportunity Employment Program for youths.  This has been a very successful initiative and has helped hundreds of Rochester students and youths each year.  The premise of the program is for students of the Rochester City School District to work with local businesses during the summer.  The benefits of this program are plentiful and lasting.  The summer Joe Robachexperience gives kids a chance to get real hands on skills and gets them excited about working. Along the same line, Joe Robach has also sponsored a few different initiatives with Hillside Children’s Center which center around jobs.  Most notable, Joe Robach has supported the Hillside Work Scholarship Connection which helps kids stay on track and also provides them with life skills to prepare them for jobs or post secondary studies.  Like the Summer of Opportunity Employment Program, it has had some amazing results.  In addition, Senator Joe Robach helped to invest $250,000 in state funds to renovate an older building on Hillside’s campus into a state of the art kitchen.  At this kitchen, students learn about the culinary arts and teachers prepare them for a possible career.  It also teaches teens about the importance of nutrition. Joe Robach has also had a long relationship with RochesterWorks and its Digital Skills program which hooks teenagers up with paid technology jobs/internships in the summer.  It has helped hundreds of Rochester teens and has had over 100 companies participate.    Joe Robach has led the way on forming public private partnerships for Rochester’s teens.  I know most would agree that these programs have a very positive effect on students.  For more information, contact Joe Robach’s office.
